for my cats. I have 5 - they range in ages from just under a year to 14 years. They are all healthy, happy, at good weights (slightly overweight, but not obese)
My oldest is about 14 years old. We KNOW she has food allergies. We tried to switch her food a while back, and she just about ripped herself apart. After a round of antibiotics, she's fine. We left the food alone because it wasn't fair to her to do that again.
I noticed today that she was starting to get really pink around her eyes again....I'm hoping it's not a newly developed allergy, but I have a feeling it might be.
They all eat Purina. It's not the best - I know, but they've done well. And we did try to switch, hense the problem with the oldest gal. They have eaten a variety of foods over their lives, but have been on Purina for the past few years.
I'm looking for something with limited ingrediants, that's not TOO expensive. I just can't have her in this condition - it's not fair. We think it was a fish allergy.... as the Purina is chicken based, and whatever it was we tried to switch to was fish based (I cannot remember what it was!).
She did have issues a while back with her kidneys, and was on perscription food - but she's been fine for the past 5-some years.
any ideas? Casey, the dog, eats Blue Buffalo - and I'm very pleased with his results. I tried it with Carleigh (the yongest) when she was a kitten, but she didn't seem thrilled about it - although I cannot keep her out of the dogs food. We also tried Nutro Kitten with the last set of fosters, but I wasn't pleased with it at all. They liked it - but they were at that age where they would eat anything and be happy....
I've got pretty much everything near by - between my house and work......
I, unfortunatly, know a LOT more about dog nutrition than cat. I'm not quite sure where to start with these guys....I feed mostly dry, with some canned - but only 2 of the 5 like the canned food, otherwise I would do a canned diet.
