Just got my first shipment of Honest Kitchen Prowl and EVO from Wag.com. I normally give 2 of my cats a mid day meal of ground turkey (which they love - I make it myself from thighs and legs). Since it was time for the lunch meal anyways and my shipment had just arrived on the doorstep, I thought I'd try a bit of the dehydrated turkey and chicken Prowl. 1/4 cup powder + 1/4 hot water, let sit for 5 minutes .........and..............THEY LOVED IT!!! YEA! I'm so happy! I hope I get the same reaction from the EVO. We'll see!

We are on the coast and hurricanes are a fact of life here so I like the idea of having the freeze dried food in the event there is an extended power outage and I run low on food.

Congrats! Glad I could help with the Evo Prowl combo. It's good your kitties love the prowl because some people say their cats have been finicky with it so that's good! I never let it stand for 5 minutes... I always stir it up while adding water to the consistency I want. If I don't do that then it always gets real thick and pasty and then they have a tough time getting it all out of their bowl. I'm sure they will love the Evo too... Mine do :)

Good advice, thanks, but so far only 2 of the 5 have tried it. Poor Lacey the new cat has a cold so she is not too feeling well and only sniffed it then snuggled into my arm.

I added boiling water - was that necessary? After 5 minutes it was pleasantly warm but not hot and it didn't thicken up until later. I can always add more water if it's thick.

I also ordered a case of EVO. 2 cans were badly dented so I called them and they credited me $5 towards my next purchase. I don't like to use dented cans so I'll toss them. I also ordered a big bag of EVO dry food. I'm going to donate all my old Fancy Feast to the shelter here and transistion everyone to the better quality food. I'm amazed at the list of ingredients with all the vitamins and minerals! I'm so glad I learned about the nutrition from this site! I really appreciate the personal advice, too!

If all goes well, I figure the cost will be the same since I seem to throw away 1/2 of the stuff they turn their noses up at. I spend at least $120+/month for the 5 anyways.....

Gee my phone did something and sent out previous post with only one letter :)

I just wanted to say great! My cats hated honest kitchen so I envy you! :) but they eat EVO mixed with their favorite fancy feast so I hope one day they will eat EVO alone! :)

I wouldn't add boiling water. Prowl is a raw food, adding boiling water will cook it a bit destroying some of the nutrients.

Anie...my cats hate HK too, but they love Stella & Chewies freeze dried raw. You might try that. It comes in individual serving pouches (equivalent to a 3 oz can when hydrated) or in 12 oz bags.

I mix it with hot tap water, then let it sit until it thickens, then I add more water to make it the consistency I want it to be. Most of my cats like it, but a few wont touch it.

My cats like Stella and Chewys too. Its got a potent smell i think  Here it's 22 dollars a bag unfortunately :(
That's because it has a lot more animal protein (about 30% more) and barely any vegetable matter (just some pumpkin seed).

I had good success this AM with the EVO, too. Poor Lacey the new cat has a cold so she didn't eat much but everyone else ate the EVO. I'm really glad I am switching to a better quality food. When you read the cans side by side with the cheap stuff it's pretty shocking. The EVO is packed with vitamins - I LOVE that! I'll try the Stella and Chewy's too. Thanks for all the advice.

I swear by the stuff but for some reason the last few weeks they stopped liking it. They run away when I put it down. One eventually eats it and the other only eats dinner now because she won't touch it. I may take it away for a few days then try again. They are probably bored of it now. Drats, it's good stuff and cheaper than canned.

Mine did this a while back... I took away everything else and fed strictly prowl for 5 days and we've never had a problem since.... Pain in the butt!!!

You know I tried that and the one eventually ate it, the other didn't eat for almost two days. She just followed me around meowing so I had to give her canned for dinner.
